AV & Event Production in North Carolina
I'm Blake Hauser, a freelance audio engineer and lighting designer based in Greensboro. I handle live sound, lighting design, staging, and on-site technical support for corporate events, conferences, concerts, and private events across North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina.
The Short Version
What Is AV Production, and Do You Need It?
AV production is the technical side of an event — the sound system, the microphones, the lighting, the staging, and the person who makes all of it work while the event is happening. If your event has a speaker who needs to be heard, a band that needs to be mixed, or a room that needs to look intentional on camera, you need AV. I provide that as a freelance one-person service in North Carolina, either bringing my own equipment or operating gear you already have.
Most of my clients are event planners, venue managers, marketing teams, and small businesses who need reliable technical execution without hiring a full production company. If you also need music, I work as a wedding and event DJ — booking both together is usually cheaper than two vendors.

Why Hire Me
Show-Ready, Every Time
You get one reliable point of contact who shows up early, knows the gear, and keeps the show moving — instead of a rotating crew who has never seen your venue.
Real Production Experience
Years of hands-on work with professional audio and lighting systems in venues of every size and shape.
Detail-Oriented Execution
Cues, transitions, and technical moments planned in advance — not improvised while your audience waits.
Flexible for Any Venue
Breweries, ballrooms, theaters, offices, gyms, or outdoors. I scope the rig to the room, not the other way around.
Clear Communication
Straight answers on what your event needs, what it costs, and what I need from you — before event day.
Questions
AV Production FAQ
Do you provide the AV equipment, or just operate it?
Either. I can bring a full audio and lighting package sized to your event, or come in as a technician and operate gear you already own or have rented.
What size events do you take on?
Anything from a small corporate meeting or panel discussion up to full concerts and multi-day conferences. If an event is larger than I can cover on my own, I will say so upfront and help you scope the crew you need.
Do you travel outside North Carolina for AV work?
Yes. I regularly work across North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina, and I will travel further for larger productions. Travel costs are quoted upfront so there are no surprises.
How far in advance should I book AV services?
As soon as your date and venue are confirmed. Weekend dates in peak season fill up early, but it is always worth asking about short-notice availability.
Can you handle AV and DJ the same event?
Yes, and it is usually the most cost-effective option. One person, one setup, one invoice, and no coordination gaps between separate vendors.
How much does event AV production cost?
Cost depends on event length, venue size, and how much equipment is needed. A technician-only booking costs less than a full sound and lighting package. Send your date, venue, and run-of-show and you will get a specific quote.
What do you need from me before the event?
A run-of-show or rough timeline, the venue contact and load-in details, confirmed power access, and a list of anyone who needs a microphone.
